My Bali today – Snorkeling trip to Nusa Penida
Snorkeling trip to Nusa Penida
I had the chance to join a snorkeling trip to Nusa Penida with Diving Indo.
As it was my first experience snorkeling, I didn’t know what to expect. I was also afraid that I couldn’t see a lot of things staying just at the surface compared to diving, and I have never been so wrong!
My snorkeling trip began at Diving indo’s office, were I met my instructor, checked all the material that I would need for the trip and got to know the other people that would do the snorkeling trip with me.
After a 5 min drive in a bus, we arrived to Sanur beach, where we boarded a modern and comfortable speed boat. We had a 45 min drive to the first snorkeling site, Manta point, and I have to say that I really enjoyed the ride.
We then prepared for our first snorkeling, and I was so excited as I wanted to jump in the water and see all those beautiful things that make this place famous.
So we jumped in the water and I was so amazed by everything, the water was so clear that we could see so many different and colourful marine species like the unicorn fish, the trigger fish and many more.
Budi (our snorkeling instructor) was always checking on all of us to be sure that everything was going well and that we were safely snorkeling to the best part. At one point, I saw his arm pointing at something below, and that is when I saw it for the first time. A magnificent manta, it was really amazing, seeing it peacefully swimming, letting itself go with the current, it was so majestic! I saw one, and after another one, and another one, there were just appearing and disappearing, it was like a mirage, but it was real!
Time to get back on the boat to go to the second site, Crystal Bay. We had our lunch (a really good Nasi Goreng and some tasty fruits for desserts) before the second snorkeling and we had time to share and compare with the divers what we saw, it is always enjoyable to share those emotions with people that understand what you are feeling.
We had the second snorkeling, which is situated near a beach. The water was so clear that we could already see amazing fish even before going on the water. We prepared ourselves and went back to the water. There were so much colourful corals, unique fishes and even little squids. At one time, we saw turtles (Hawksbill turtle and green sea turtle) and we began to swam with them.
It’s really hard to describe with words how incredible it was to experience this. When you are underwater and see all this, you feel so peaceful, like in another world. After about 45 min, we had to go back in the boat and drive back to Diving Indo.
It was really amazing, it was my first snorkeling trip but definitely not the last one! Thank’s again to all Diving Indo’s staff that were always careful, helping and joyful, you made this experience even better.
