Diving in Tulamben Area

The northeast of Bali is dotted with stunning dive sites – from Amed’s artificial reefs, the world-famous wrecks at Tulamben, and weird and wonderful macro diving in Seraya. Let Diving Indo show you the best of north Bali’s diving!

Tulamben

USAT Liberty Wreck

Depth 5-30 meters

Diving in Tulamben must include the Liberty! The USAT Liberty wreck at Tulamben is considered one of the best wreck dives in the world. With the wreck extending 120m in length and beginning at just 3m, it runs to 30m deep. The mysterious wreck has an incredible history and is a must-see in Bali.

This spectacular dive site is home to some 400 species of reef fish and it is covered in stunning coral.

Coral Garden

Depth 5-30 Meters

Diving in Tulamben is not just the wreck. Simply put, Coral Garden is a beautiful dive site. Resplendent with vibrant coral as well as an artificial reef that attracts a large variety of reef fish, beautiful ribbon eels, as well as some fascinating macro critters.

The Drop Off

Depth 5-30 Meters

The Drop Off is a beautiful wall of coral growth and overhanging rock with vast schools of trevally, angelfish, bumphead parrotfish, triggerfish, reef fish, and the occasional barracuda!

The Boga Wreck

Depth 15-30 Meters

Just a short drive North of Tulamben, the Boga is decommissioned coastguard supply ship that was purposely sunk in September 2012. Boga measures about 50 metres in length with the bow sitting in 15m and the prop at 35m. Adorned with a Volkswagen car, treasure chest, and a Buddha statue, it makes a very interesting dive as the marine life is beginning to flock to this area!

Seraya

Depth 5-35 Meters

Just a short drive South of Tulamben, Seraya is one of the best areas for macro photography. Here you can get up close with weird and wonderful critters – from frogfish, nudibranch, flatworms, harlequin shrimp, skeleton shrimp, snake eels, mantis shrimp – the list goes on and on. You never know what you will find here with the help of our eagle-eyed guides!

Amed

Amed Wall

Depth 5-30 Meters

Just a short ride by jukung takes you to the start of a dramatic wall dive covered in coral and home to very chilled-out turtles, an abundance of reef fish, and a good chance to see cuttlefish and squid.

The Pyramids

Depth 5-25 Meters

An artificial reef that has a shallow fringing reef with turtles, The Pyramids hold some macro treasures such as pygmy seahorses, frogfish, leaf scorpionfish and nudibranch. As well as featuring a huge garden eel area, this is a favourite playground for blue-spotted stingrays.

Japanese Shipwreck

Depth 5-30 Meters

Just a short drive from Amed lies a small Japanese steel freighter sunk in WWII. Sitting in shallow waters, and covered in soft coral and gorgonian fans, this stunning wreck features a backdrop of coral reefs and a stunning wall.
